As a young professional working in the journalism and communications industry, current affairs and telling the stories of the voiceless are what I am passionate about.

From experiences working with local businesses and media organisations to travelling to Florence, Italy and Jaipur, India to partake in foreign correspondence. I am driven and enthusiastic about constantly learning, gaining new experiences and growing as a professional.

Experience

Media and publicity coordinator – invigorate pr

June 2017 – Current

Contact work as media and publicity coordinator. Responsible for the creation of media kits, coordination with journalists and content creation for a variety of clients.

Contributing Writer – GCMAG

June 2017 – Current

Contributing writer for gcmag.com.au. Including creation of unique content, interviewing influencers, celebrities and fulfilling assignments for online content. GCMag involves use of Dapulse and Roundcube.

Reporter– 4zzz radio station

May 2017 – August 2017

Responsible for researching, writing and reading the hourly Zedlines news broadcast. The newsroom team works collaboratively to research stories marginalized in the mainstream media and presenting them in a non-bias manner.

Intern – P4 Group (PR/Communications firm)

January 2017 – March 2017

Responsible for the creation of media lists, sourcing potential brand ambassadors and brand partnerships, assisting with public relations campaigns for clients, event management, social media plans, writing blog posts for P4 and clients, writing end of month reports for clients, updating the website and assisting in the progress of campaigns.

Writer – Queensland Magazines (internship)

July – October 2016

Creating online content for Indulge Magazine, Highlife Magazine and The West End Magazine. Interviewing talent, collaborating with public relations firms, representing magazines at press events and managing social media content. Five of my stories have been published across the print magazines.

Coordinator – Helping hands network (OSHC)

2013 – current

Responsible for the running of the out of school hours’ care service. Including the managing of staffing, budgets, promotional plans, programming and conflict resolution. Other responsibilities include risk assessments, event organisation, educational support, data entry and maintenance of community relations.

 

Education

Bachelor of Journalism/Communications (PR)

The University of Queensland, graduation November 2017.

GPA: 6

The journalism portion of the degree has been completed, with a focus on studies in digital, radio and television journalism. One of twenty students chosen for an elite scholarship to travel to Jaipur, India for ten days working as a foreign correspondent. Subsequent stories produced are available to view on this portfolio.

In complement to these studies, my Public Relations studies focus on social media management, writing for clients, organisational crisis communication, research, PR tools, event management, data analytics and promotional communication. Including work on PR campaigns for The University of Queensland Hockey Club, Journalism and Communications Student Association and OzHarvest and stakeholder engagement campaigns for Queensland Urban Utilities.

Media and communications in the fashion industry

Studying fashion journalism and public relations with a focus on fashion writing, creating online content and marketing/re-imaging a brand based on stakeholder values. Attended Pitti Uomo (Men’s Fashion Week) and interviewed designers and PR teams, resulting in the culmination of a fashion webpage – https://somebodysmuse.wordpress.com

 

 

Skills

  • Trained in the basic use of Adobe Software including: Premier Pro, Audition, Photoshop and InDesign. Subsequently able to edit audio, visual and design packages.
  • Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suit and basic data analysis software including Leximancer, Sublime, OpenRefine, Gephi and Reaper.
  • Typing speed of 90 words per minute.
  • Experience using MediaNet, Influencing, WordPress, Trello and Dapulse.
  • The creation and implementation of social media plans.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with the ability to adapt my writing to suit a client and/or audience.
