Owners Ricardo Basetti and Matthew Medcraf talk about how their passion for good food and good coffee led to the creation of Hofer & Frei. “Being a hybrid between a schnitzel restaurant and an espresso bar has allowed us to deliver on our passion for amazing coffee,” Mr Basetti and Mr Medcraf said.
Basetti and Medcraf aimed to create an establishment that fills a gap in the schnitzel market both in a healthy way and at an affordable price.
“Typically one is either able to get an underwhelming $10 schnitzel made from ordinary ingredients providing no nutritional value whatsoever, or a really amazing piece of schnitzel for $40 plus at a Bavarian restaurant, there is no in-between,” the pair said.
Using locally sourced produce, Hofer & Frei hope to deliver healthy yet delicious meals that minimise calorie intake and maximise nutritional value. Located on Queen Street, Brisbane, Hofer & Frei are open Monday to Friday, from 7am to 3pm.
