VIDEO: Deafening Silence [documentary]

A mini-documentary confronting an unspoken issue. India’s children are facing an epidemic of abuse, with 53% of Indian children having experienced sexual abuse. Yet no one is talking about it, government initiatives are targeting other issues and the weight of supporting victims is on non-government organisations. Follow UQ in Jaipur reporter, Maegan Gillespie, as she confronts an issue that no one wants to talk about.

Special thanks to the New Colombo Plan and The University of Queensland for assisting in funding and supporting this investigation. Special thanks also to Disha Gupta, Professor Uma Joshi and Gurinder Virk for providing insight into this issue. Along with Shivani Sharma & Anurag Ekka. Johnpaul Gonzo, Anny White, Maya Fellows, Hannah Palmer, Mckenna Lea, Eliza Crisp and the UQ in Jaipur team for their support, both technical and emotional.

Documentary filmed, produced and directed as part of a foreign correspondent field trip course, that I was one of twenty students selected to partake in. Courtesy of the New Colombo Plan.
